India’s surgical strikes in POK that destroyed six-eight terrorist launch pads killing 30-55 terrorists and two Pak soldiers was a symbol of a paradigm shift in its response to Pakistan-sponsored terror: a symbol of India’s political resolve that terrorist shall be punished no matter what the cost; that sponsoring terror shall not be a no-cost or low-cost option.
Coming a day after Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif’s threat to “nuke India,” the strikes called Pakistan’s bluff.
These strikes are the beginning, not the end. Pakistan will respond. But that response will not be to strike at terrorism at home – it is too deeply ingrained there to be removed by surgical strikes – but to strike against India. Through terrorists. Through shelling of border villages.
And India is prepared for that.
